Travis Studdard was a featured speaker at the annual Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s VA Symposium on November 16, 2017. He presented on the topic of veterans disability appeals to an audience of other attorneys and accredited agents looking to learn and improve their skills in representing disabled veterans and their families.
Travis’s paper and presentation focused on effective strategies for appeals at the Regional Office (RO) and Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA). The RO and BVA are the two levels of appeals where the vast majority of veterans’ claims are decided. In particular, Travis shared his thoughts on the different appeals and hearing options available to maximize veterans’ chances of overall success in the quickest way possible in a system plagued with delays.
When asked about speaking at this seminar, Travis said, “It is always an honor to have the opportunity to share your experiences and insight with your colleagues. Teaching is one of the greatest ways to learn, so every time I can present at a seminar such as this one I get as much out of it as those in attendance. I also find that I become a better advocate myself. The organizers of this particular seminar always do a great job with it and should be commended for their service to our veterans.”
This symposium was a joint effort organized by the Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the Military Legal Assistance Program, and the Military/Veterans Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
